www.exhaustwarehouse.com [ note: this is a link to a work-in-progress, development website which may not be fully functional or complete]
The Exhaust Warehouse (TEW) is a re-seller of mufflers, catalytic converters,
oxygen sensors, as well as complete automotive exhaust systems and accessories.
Their existing websites contained some information about products
available, but were not e-commerce enabled, and required functional and
visual redesign. The new sites developed by AttackGoose feature a complete
database-driven parts catalog, with an easy-to-use "pulldown" menu interface
allowing customers to quickly find the parts they need for their particular automobile.
A central database allows TEW staff to edit all product details and prices
from a secure admin portion of the website.
In addition, extensive "preferred customer" or "B-to-B" login services and support for customer incentive programs (e.g. promo coupons) are also an important part of the features planned.

www.law.stanford.edu
Re-design and migration of new content for the 2003 launch of the new
high-profile website for The Stanford Law School. The new site is a drastic improvement over the previous, and a unique
"page wrapping" feature allows faculty in any department to easily
update any page of web-content on their own -- without danger of
upsetting the overall navigation structure or design of the site as a
whole. The site features news about faculty, students, alumni, and law school
events. Along with streaming video of recent conferences, listings
of new jobs, and links to Law School publications, it also offers the exact
temperature on campus! Current site traffic is approx. 10 million hits-per-month (or approx. 100,000 unique visits/month).

www.jbyrdhosch.com [ note: this is a link to a work-in-progress, development website ]
J. Byrd Hosch is a talented musician who has made a name for herself
in the San Francisco Bay Area as a singer, songwriter and performer.
Over the past ten years, she has created several groups, most notably
the much-acclaimed "Kountry Kays", and she
is now the lead guitarist and vocalist for newly formed "J. Byrd Hosch
Trio". J. Byrd recently approached AttackGoose Interactive, since she feels
that she now needs a professional website as part of her marketing
package. In general, she would like the website to function as her
"electronic press kit", communicating her style and personality, while
serving as an informational resource for both fans and agents alike.

www.islandyoga.com
Design and implementation of an informational website for a Yoga Program taught on the Hawaiian Islands.
This project entailed collaboration with a professional 3-D graphic
artist to design an exciting new logo and java-script "roll-overs" for
hyperlink buttons, as well as working with the client to define the
site structure and features. The client is currently marketing three
short instructional yoga videos, so a custom Shopping Cart and
eCommerce system was integrated into the site, also featuring a complete
"admin" interface for the client to manage incoming orders and
easily print error-free shipping labels.
Customers can also view previews of the videos online as
RealVideo clips.

www.caff.org
Work done at Ocean Group, Inc., for CAFF: A web-based, online "Calendar of Events", built using re-useable Java-Bean components and JSP technology. Visitors to the site can view the latest Events Calendar, month by month, in a familiar grid format, and click on hyperlinks in each "day" to view details about a particular event. Since all event data resides in an indexed database (we chose mySQL), the visitor can choose to view events for the entire State of California, or just those for their local area. From a password-protected portion of the website, site administrators can easily add or update events on the calendar. An important feature data model is its relational database design, which allows important information that is normally repeated for many events (such as name/phone for Event Coordinators) to be entered just once, and then simply selected from a "pull-down menu" when entering new events. The administrator can also post a special "Action Alert" notice onto the site's homepage, informing vistors about special events or displaying a notice urging them to take immediate action regarding, for example, upcoming legislation that affects the farming community.
Founded in 1978, the Community Alliance with Family Farmers is a nonprofit member-activist organization. CAFF political and educational campaigns are building a movement of rural and urban people who foster family-scale agriculture that cares for the land, sustains local economies, and promotes social justice. Members are urbanites, farmers, environmentalists, rural activists, students, and anyone concerned with the social and environmental dimensions of agriculture.

www.localharvest.org
Many clients, such as non-profit organizations working for social and environmental causes, cannot afford the expense of a commercial GIS server, which typically costs in the range of $10k to $50k.
At Ocean Group, we built a technology-base comprised of reusable, OpenSource software
components, such as server-side JavaBeans and JSP template pages.
The most ambitious effort was re-purposing and extending a GIS system called OpenMap
as a scaleable and efficient Java Servlet component, thereby providing similar functionality to "MapQuest" or "Yahoo Maps", but at about one-tenth the cost of those commercial systems.
Farmers nationwide can add their farm to the LocalHarvest database, and enter information about their farm, such as location, which crops are grown during which seasons, and which local areas or Farmer's Markets are served. A photograph of the farm can also be uploaded.
Visitors to the site can find farms in their local area by simply clicking on the map, and "drilling down" or "zooming in" to find them. Farms then are listed as hyperlinks below the map, and the visitor can see the same information the farmer has entered.
Consumers worldwide are rediscovering the benefits of buying locally grown food.It is fresher than anything in the supermarket and that means it is tastier and more nutritious. It is also good for the local economy--buying directly from family farmers helps them stay in business. Family farmers sell their products directly to consumers through various avenues -- which now can easily located on the LocalHarvest website! |

www.thinknic.com
The New Internet Computer (or "The NIC" for short) is a $200 "Internet Appliance" -- essentially a simple PC designed from the outset to provide internet browsing capability in a quick, "setup and go" package, without the typical configuration headaches involved in maintaing a regular PC. The fledgling company is funded by Larry Ellison of Oracle Corporation, and many units are donated to schools as part of "Oracle Promise", a philanthropic program that aims to bring greater Internet access to classrooms across the United States.
The NIC runs a custom Linux version of Netscape Navigator that can display all of the most common Internet content, including Java, JavaScript, Flash animations, frames, audio files (like MP3), RealPlayer video, and even Adobe Acrobat PDF files.
The device contains no hard-drive, but bookmarks, cookies, and browser preferences are saved into 4MB of non-volatile "flash" memory built-in to the unit.
See the ZDNet Review (from April 2001) as well as the company and product website at www.thinknic.com for detailed information and specs.
We have done various contract assignments for The NIC Company, such as the design and implementation of a small Apache-based Intranet for use by the Engineering Team, which included a fire-walled Citrix Server on a DMZ, as well as a customized version of the bugzilla bug-tracking database. The bugzilla database in particular helped facilitate collaboration between the two disjoint teams, and the documentation Intranet was accessible both to the Team at Oracle as well as to their in-house Sales Team. These docs were be easily updateable via an ordinary Windows Explorer view, appearing as shared file-system from any of the workstations that most staff used on a daily basis. An implementation of JSP (Java Server Pages) was also installed, namely Resin. A JSP web-application was envisioned to allow 3rd-party integrators and vendors to build simple customizations of the NIC software CD via an online web interface.
Other contributions to NIC included three complete binders of (heretofore scattered or unwritten) documentation, including "white papers" and "HOWTOs", and a FreeDOS-based BIOS Updater CD.
A screen-capture utility was also written, used to produce image files for 2nd version of the User's Manual.
Also assisted with various tasks related to beta-testing and shipping of the 2.0 version of the System Software CD, as well as supported the Sales Team with questions for potential customers re: other possible uses for the NIC, such as for stand-alone Kiosks or as Internet Access Terminals used in hotel rooms.
